Producers in southern NSW have enthusiastically embraced the operations of their own grain marketing company, Southern Ag Grain (SAG), with approximately 5,000 mt committed in the first few days of operations.
The company has also announced the establishment of operations in Wagga Wagga.
Southern Ag Grain's inaugural chairman, Mr Mike Chaseling said that Southern Ag Grain was focused on servicing the needs of growers in the southern NSW region and a head office in Wagga Wagga was a logical choice.
"To understand what our customers want we need to be a part of the local region. As a 50% grower owned company Wagga Wagga is well located for us to reach our customers throughout the region, from Lake Cargelligo and West Wyalong through to Cowra in the north and all the way to the Murray river in the south," said Mr Chaseling.
"It is very pleasing to see the joint venture structure enable the business to hit the ground running. Growers in the district are enthusiastically embracing the SAG concept and our joint venture partner Southern Agventure Ltd (SAV) is expecting a strong response to its recently released prospectus".
"Growers in the district are looking for greater marketing control and a real partner in grain marketing. Southern Ag Grain is uniquely placed as that partner. We are, after all, owned by southern NSW farmers and one of Australia's leading grain marketing companies.
It is this unique blend of experience, local knowledge and market access that is at the core of Southern Ag Grain. Growers are our customers and we are all about helping them maximise opportunities from the recently liberalised grain markets" Mr Chaseling said.
Southern Ag Grain's board consists of two representatives from each joint venture partners, Emerald Group Australia Pty Ltd (Emerald) and Southern Agventure Ltd (Southern Agventure).
Board members include: Mike Chaseling and Malcolm McMahon from Emerald and Richard Carn and David Hodge from Southern Agventure.
Southern Ag Grain's new address is Suite 2, 17 Gurwood Street, Wagga Wagga.
